Renegades is a fictional book written by Marissa Meyer. Renegades is about a girl named Nova. Nova is the niece of the infamous leader of the anarchists. After he is murdered by the Renegades, Nova and the rest of the anarchists move down to the subway tunnels. Every “villain” down there is registered for and kept under constant surveillance, except for Nova. The renegades have no documentation that Nova exists, let alone is an anarchist, So when the opportunity strikes, Nova decides to use this to her advantage. At the suggestion of the other villains, she decides to join the Renegades as an undercover villain.  After she is accepted as a Renegade, she meets Adrian, the adoptive son of two of the original Renegades. They investigate the city after the Anarchists start pulling little charades around the city that Nova had to fix. But when Nova starts to fall in love with Adrian, everything starts falling apart, and Nova has to choose between her loyalties and her heart.

NIL UNLOCKED by Lynne Matson

Nil Unlocked

Nil Unlocked, by Lynne Matson, is a captivating read and very engaging. While Nil Unlocked was the second installment in the three book trilogy, it was very fascinating and still kept up with the tempo and suspense of the previous Nil book, Nil. This book was thrilling to read, and I am truly happy I chose to read it. My favorite part of the book was seeing all of the characters and their development. With such a cut-to-the-chase storyline and being able to relate to the teens, I could not put this book down. Lynne Matson portrayed the imagery of the island and the characters so well. At some parts of the story, it felt as if I was there. Though the story is so electrifying and and stirring, it left me wanting more. Chapter after chapter there was always something unexpected happening creating interest and a craving for more.

The story, Nil on Fire, occurs on an island called Nil. Although, Nil is not like most islands, in fact, Nil is one of a kind. Portals abduct kids and trap them there for one year. There is only one way out, and that is the exact same way they came in, through gates. Except there is a catch, if you fail to escape Nil’s wrath after one year, you will become part of the island and die. Nil Unlocked expands on the past theories and ideas of past islanders. It is so exciting and rewarding when you find out Nil’s secrets. Between struggling to survive, falling in love, and finding out all of Nil’s secrets, Nil Unlocked will not disappoint anyone seeking a thrilling adventure book.
