Dear Martin by Nic Stone is an amazing book. Dear Martin is a book about black lives matter. It shows what happens in our world today and tries to shed light on injustice in our society. This is important because some people rarely even acknowledge it.
One of the other themes in Dear Martin is karma. If someone does anything bad, there is always karma. The cop who unjustly tortures and arrests Justyce, the protagonist in the story, is later killed. The same thing is true for the cop who kills Manny, Justyce’s best friend.
At one point Justyce goes to visit a gang leader in the ghetto, and when the court finds out, they used it against him. One of the other themes I think plays a big role in Dear Martin is that everything happens by chance. It just so happens that the cop was in the car next to Justyce and Manny. It just so happens Manny didn’t feel like a hike. It also just happens that a cop was there when Justyce was just trying to help Melo. Most of these incidents were just that the victim was in the wrong spot at the wrong time. To find out what else happens in Dear. Martin, read it! It is definitely worth it.
